North Laguna Amenities

Located within convenient walking distance to the beach and the downtown area, the North Laguna community is characterized by its wide open roads and attractive homes. As a community located within the city of Laguna Beach, North Laguna also provides residents with easy access to a variety of arts, music and cultural opportunities as well as ample opportunities to enjoy water-based activities and other outdoor recreation.

With a rich history in surfing, Laguna Beach is home to the Brooks Street Surfing Classic. Started in 1955 and taking place sometime within a four-month-long window in the summer, the event is open only to Laguna Beach residents. Other sporting events that take place in Laguna Beach each year include the Vic Skimboarding World Championship, the Laguna Open Volleyball Tournament and the U.S. Open for Lawnbowling.

Thanks to the city?s extensive conservation efforts, Laguna Beach also offers easy access to ample greenspace, wilderness and other opportunities to enjoy the great outdoors. As such, there is more than 20,000 contiguous areas of wildlands available in and around the city for residents to enjoy. Some of these spaces include The Laguna Coast Wilderness Park, Crystal Cove State Park, Him Dilly Preserve and the Aliso-Wood Canyons Wilderness Park. The 7,000-acrew Laguna Coast Wildnerness Park provides additional opportunities for communing with nature.

North Laguna Schools

North Laguna is served by the Laguna Beach Unified School District, which is comprised of El Morro Elementary School, Top of the World Elementary School, Thurston Middle School and Laguna Beach High School. The community is also served by one private elementary school, St. Catherine of Siena Parish School, which is overseen by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Orange.

Established in 1934, Laguna Beach High School has consistently been ranked among the top schools in the state. Accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, the high school was recognized as a California Distinguished School in 2007 and 2012. This designation places the school among the top five percent in the state. The school was also recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School in 2008. Some of the school?s notable alumni include Blair Anderson, Damon Berryhill , Taylor Hawkins and Olympians Annika Dries, Dusty Dvorak, Dain Blanton, Aria Fischer, Makenzie Fischer and Scott Fortune.

Laguna Beach is also home to the Laguna College of Art & Design, which is a small private college located in Laguna Canyon. Founded in 1961 by the Festival of Arts and Laguna Art Museum, the school offers bachelor of arts degrees in animation, graphic design, game art, illustration, drawing and painting. It also offers master of fine arts degrees in painting and drawing.
