Orange County is home to numerous opportunities to enjoy, express and experience the arts. Whether you want to take in a great show or you want to expand your artistic skills further, here are some options to consider this month.
Ronaldo Macedo Art Show
Taking place on June 16th, the Ronaldo Macedo Art Show offers the opportunity to enjoy the beauty of Maui and Southern California through the eyes of plein air artist Ronaldo Macedo. While the official show will take place on June 16th from 5:00 to 8:00 pm, the work will continue to be on display throughout the month of June at Lahaina Galleries. Lahaina Galleries is located just below the Cheesecake Factory in the Fashion Island Shopping Center at 1173 Newport Center Drive in Newport Beach. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday from 10:00 am until 9:00 pm, Saturday from 10:00 am until 7:00 pm and Sunday from 11:00 am through 6:00 pm.
Lord of the Strings Concert Series at SOCO Presents Adam Rafferty
The Lord of the Strings Concert Series at SOCO will present Adam Rafferty on June 25th at 3:00 pm. With his unique background as a top New York Jazz player, Adam Rafferty is a jazz guitarist and widely acclaimed fingerstyle player who performs pop, jazz and everything in between. The event will take place at the LCA Wine at SOCO and The OC Mix, which is located at 3315 Hyland Avenue in Costa Mesa. During the show, guests are invited to enjoy wine selections curated by LCA Wine at SOCO. Guests are also invited to bring in light bites from one of SOCO’s culinary partners. UC Irvine Summer Academies in the Arts
UC Irvine will once again be offering its Summer Academies in the Arts, with the first classes starting on June 26th and other classes running throughout the summer. The only Orange County program of its kind, the Summer Academies in the Arts offers college and career preparatory coursework in art, dance, drama, music and technology for children and young adults. Courses are available for those ranging from 11 through 22-years-old, with the goal being to enhance 21st century skills, build self-confidence and leadership, and support college and career goals. Samples of courses being offered include:

• Digital/Darkroom Photography
• Drawing/Painting
• Conservatory Dance
• Drama: Beauty and the Beast

All courses take place in small classes taught by UC Irvine graduate instructors, esteemed faculty and professionals in the field. Participants have the opportunity to receive university credit as they complete rigorous college-level coursework, reside on campus and expand their social and professional networks.
