Orange County Art Events in November

Orange County is home to a wide variety of cultural activities and opportunities, particularly when it comes to those that support the arts. If you are interested in exploring some great art this month, here are a few events you might want to consider.

Guy Buffet Art Show

Having recently returned from France, Guy Buffet is holding a special event where he will create a personalized portrait of your family pooch. During the event, Buffet will also unveil his new collection of original acrylics and watercolors. The event will take place on November 4th from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at a Lahaina Galleries, which is located just below the Cheesecake Factory in the Fashion Island Shopping Center. ARTventure 2017 at SOCO and The OC Mix

The City of Costa Mesa will host its third annual juried exhibition of art, known as ARTventure, in just a few days. A fusion of the arts and entertainment, ARTventure serves to showcase the work of local Orange County artists. Taking place from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm on November 10th and from 10:00 am until 5:00 pm on November 11th, the juried exhibition of art will be displayed in Design Within Reach’s state-of-the-art showroom and will be paired with live entertainment including theatrical performances, musicians, culinary artists and literary professionals. ARTventure is just one of many arts-related events in the area, demonstrated why Costa Mesa is known as the “City of the Arts.”

Design Within Reach at SOCO and The OC Mix is located at 3303 Hyland Avenue in Costa Mesa. Started by Rob Forbes in 1998, DWR strives to make authentic modern design accessible. Rather than offering products that are “inspired by” or “in the spirit of,” DWR makes the works from iconic designers accessible to the public by making it more affordable and ensuring it is in stock so it can actually be touched and examined. The Costa Mesa location, which is in the South Coast Collection shopping center, is among the largest of the chain’s locations. The space is centered around a design hub featuring the Light Cloud lighting installation and 30-foot-long walls featuring upholstered tiles.

Sawdust Art Festival’s Winter Fantasy: Laguna Beach

The Sawdust Art Festival’s Winter Fantasy: Laguna Beach event will kick off on November 18th and will continue to take place every weekend through December 17th. During the event, the festival grounds are transformed into a winter wonderland featuring 175 artists who will create, display and sell their original work. Offering the most unique holiday shopping Southern California has to offer, the festival offers work spanning a wide variety of art media. This includes clothing, jewelry, ceramics, fused and blown glass, forged metals, woodwork, photography, painting, textiles and sculpture.

The Sawdust Art Festival grounds is at 935 Laguna Canyon Road in Laguna Beach. The event takes place from 10:00 am until 6:00 pm every Saturday and Sunday. It will also take place on Friday, November 24th. The festival also includes live holiday entertainment, a petting zoo, great outdoor cafes, art classes and demonstrations and visits from Santa.
