Live Music and Surf Culture in Orange County

Are you looking for something to do outside while taking in some great sights and sounds? If so, there are plenty of great festivals and other events that you can enjoy in the area this month. Among these are the fantastic live concert series Rock the Walk at the Anaheim GardenWalk as well as the highly-anticipated Vans US Open of Surfing at Huntington Beach where you can explore all things surfing, skating and BMX-related.

Rock the Walk

Taking place now through August 24th, Rock the Walk is a summer concert series that takes place at the Anaheim GardenWalk. This live music experience showcases local artists every Thursday from 5:30 to 7:30 pm each night. Performers still scheduled to appear for this year?s event include:

? Tony Gomez on August 10th
? Morgan Mallory on August 17th
? Hvnted presented by Music Forward on August 24th

Art on the Walk, which showcases Orange County artist, will also continue at the Anaheim GardenWalk throughout the summer and beyond. As part of this program, artists? works are displayed for two to three months throughout various locations of the GardenWalk.

An outdoor dining, entertainment and shopping destination located in the heart of the Anaheim Resort District, the Anaheim GardenWalk is just steps away from the Disneyland Resort and Anaheim Convention Center. A number of restaurants can be found at the Anaheim GardenWalk, including:

The Anaheim GardenWalk is also home to an escape room, a magic store and caberet, an upscale bowling lounge, trendy shops and entertainment venues such as House of Blues Anaheim and Go VR Gaming. The Anaheim GardenWalk is located at 400 West Disney Way in Anaheim.

Vans US Open of Surfing

The world?s largest surf competition and lifestyle festival, the Vans US Open of Surfing comes to Huntington Beach every summer. Every year, more than half a million people travel to the area in order to participate in the festival in some way. While the nine-day festival is already underway, you can still join in the fun all the way until its last day on August 6th.

At this fun event, you can watch the world?s greatest surfers as they compete for one of the largest prize purses in the industry. In addition to watching the surfing, you can also watch some world-class skateboarding and BMX competitions while also checking out movie premiers, product demos, retail exhibits and art exhibits. The festival also includes free samples from some of the most popular action sport industry brands, including from the title sponsor Vans.

The festival is free of charge and takes place by the south side of the Huntington Beach Pier. Events take place from 7:30 am until 7:00 pm this Tuesday through Friday and from 8:00 am until 6:00 pm on Saturday. Sunday?s events take place from 8:00 am until 5:15 pm. Alcoholic beverages, pets, beach toys, controlled substances and weapons of any kind are not permitted at the festival.
