What is Halloween if you cannot have a little fun with your beloved pets? Or, if you are not a pet-owner, but you love animals, adding animals to the holiday helps to make it even more fun. Luckily, there are plenty of great Halloween events in Orange County to enjoy that included animals. Here is a look at a few.
Halloween Animal Art and Preschool Program
The Orange County Zoo is hosting the Halloween Animal Art and Preschool Program for children ages 3 and 4-years-old. At the special event, participants learn about creatures that are associated with Halloween through hands-on learning, fun crafts and animal encounters.
The Orange County Zoo is located at 1 Irvine Park Road in Orange. Parents must accompany children throughout the duration of the program and registration is required. The fee is $5 per child in addition to a $3 parking fee on weekdays and a $5 parking free on weekends. Classes are offered October 5th, 11th, 13th, 14th, 17th and 20th.
Yappy Howl-O-Ween
Taking place on October 26th from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm, Yappy Howl-O-Ween provides pups with the opportunity to show off their favorite costumes. A panel of judges will determine which canine wins the prize for the various costume categories, which include Most Creative, Dynamic Duo, Cute and Cuddly and Best in Show. A first place prize, which is a hand-painted dog bowl by Debby Carman of FauxPaw Productions, will be awarded to the category winners.
The Yappy Howl-O-Ween event takes place at The Ritz-Carlton at One Ritz-Carlton Drive in Dana Point. Entry into the contest is $10 per canine per category
Happy Hallowiener Doggy Dress Up & Races and Kids Costume Day
Old World Village is hosting a Happy Hallowiener Doggy Dress Up & Races and Kids Costume Day on October 29th. The event will include a Best Doggie and Kid Costume Contest on October 29th from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm. Kinderfest, which includes a bouncy house, dog races, face painting and carnival games, will take place until 7:30 pm. DoDo the chicken will also join everyone on the dance floor while dancing to their favorite song: the Chicken Dance. Adults can enjoy the great selection of German beers and menu options, including sausage.
The Happy Halloweiener Doggy Dress Up & Races and Kids Costume Day takes place at Old World Village, which is located at 7561 Center Avenue in Huntington Beach. Adult admission is $7 while kids between the ages of 6 and 12 are admitted for $3. Participants under the age of 5 are admitted for free.
Halloween Zoo-tacular
The Orange County Zoo will host its annual Halloween Zoo-tacular on October 31st from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm. The event will include trick-or-treating, a scavenger hunt, games and crafts. The first 100 children to arrive at the end will receive a free gift, while all participants will get to watch the zoo animals receive treat-filled pumpkins throughout the day.
