Enjoying Brews and Artisanal Creations in the OC

Whether you enjoy beer, rum, whiskey or other liqueurs, you will find that that there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy samples of the best throughout Orange County. From learning how to grow your own hops so you can brew the perfect beer, to Father’s Day beer cruises and charitable tastings, there are always great brews and artisanal creations to savor. Here are a few upcoming events this in Orange County that you might want to consider checking out this month.

Growing Hops for Beer Brewing

If you are interested in brewing your own personal craft beer, you might be interested in participating in the Growing Hops for Beer Brewing workshop being offered at Roger’s Gardens. At this event, you will join Nursery Manager Rex Yarwood and Operations Manager/home brewer Michael Sullivan to learn more about the production of hops as well as the tricks to growing them in your backyard. You will also learn about drying and sorting hops, providing you with all of the information you need to grow all of the hops you need for your home brew.

Roger’s Garden’s is located at 2301 San Joaquin Hills Road in Corona del Mar. The event takes place on June 11th from 9:00 until 10:00 am.

Father’s Day Beer Brunch Cruises

Father’s Day is right around the corner, and what better way to celebrate than with a Father’s Day Beer Brunch Cruise? With this fun event, you can show your dad just how much you care by creating a unique and memorable dining experience that includes plenty of free-flowing beer. The 2-hour yacht cruise includes a brunch buffet featuring beer, champagne, sparkling cider, soda, juice, coffee and tea. Live entertainment is also provided and all dads receive a complimentary souvenir pint glass.

The Father’s Day Beer Brunch Cruise takes place on June 18th, with cruises available at 11:00 am, noon and 4:00. Boarding begins half an hour before departure. The cruise is provided by Hornblower Cruises and Events, located a 2431 W. Pacific Coast Highway in Newport Beach. Tickets are $74.95 per person.

OC Tasting Showcase at the Chuck Jones Center for Creativity

The Chuck Jones Center for Creativity at SOCO will be presenting its OC Tasting Showcase on June 20th. At this intimate event, participants are invited to sample a curated collection of craft spirits while also meeting the people who created them. The event will feature more than 35 types of artisanal run, gin, whiskey, brandy, vodka, specialty liqueurs and more. Snacks and other treats will also be included. All proceeds from the event will go toward benefiting the Chuck Jones Center for Creativity and Grandma’s House of Hope.

The Chuck Jones Center at SOCO is located at 3311 Hyland Ave in Costa Mesa. The event takes place from 5:30 to 8:30 pm, with VIP preview taking place from 5:30 to 6:30 and general admission entry taking place from 6:30 to 8:30. Tickets are $75 for general admission and $90 for VIP Preview.
